The six silos of ten planned have been mounted at the specialised grain cargoes handling complex being built at the state enterprise (SE) Mariupol Sea Trade Port (MSTP), reports the Press Office of SE MSTP.

“The works on the grain terminal construction go in full swing. Thanks to efforts by contractors, there are already six grain reservoirs ‘grown’, reinforced concrete piles rammed in for the seventh, and 80% of those are already inserted into the ground for the eighth. Five support metal structures are assembled on the A axis for oversilos spans. A foundation pit is developed for reinforced concrete channels of the railcars discharge station foundations”, informs the report.

Earlier the public stevedore’s management assigned the contractor’s task to expedite the construction works pace.

SE MSTP began to realise the project of grain handling complex construction in July 2018. There is the Berth 4 hydraulic part reconstruction provided in parallel. In April 2018 SE MSTP and LLC Riola-Modul (Kiev Region) had signed the contract on the first phase of grain handling complex construction in Mariupol Port. Riola-Modul had won the corresponding tender in March 2018, in the follow-up to the governmental approval of the project in January 2018.

The project envisages building 10 silos 5,700 t each, two operational silos of 500 t each, and all the corresponding facilities. The terminal’s launch is going to enable the public stevedore to enlarge its annual grain throughput by 1M t. The project’s total estimate cost amounts to 168.728M UAH as of October 2017, the term being 15.5 months, establishing finally 60 new jobs.

SE MSTP is the only operator of Mariupol Port. In 2018 it reduced the cargo turnover by 9.8% comparing to 2017 down to 5.3M t.
